European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Union agency responsible for the evaluation and supervision of medicines, estimated on Thursday that a coronavirus vaccine could be ready for approval within a year at best.
Head of Biological Health Threats and Vaccines Strategy at EMA Dr. Marco Cavaleri noted that the development of the vaccine will take time since it is starting “from scratch.”
“We might look from an optimistic side in a year from now,” he said, claiming that a potential date for the vaccine approval could be in early 2021.
