European Council President Charles Michel said on Tuesday that there are currently 22 million tons of grain that are blocked in Ukraine, particularly in Odesa, adding that the European Union “fully supports all the efforts made by the United Nations in order to find an agreement to open a maritime corridor to the Black Sea.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated Ukraine is currently exporting between 200,000 tons and 1 million tons per month, compared to 5 million before the conflict with Russia. She asserted Russia is deliberately bombarding Ukrainian warehouses where wheat is stored, as well as mining cornfields.
