EU monkeypox cases at 7,000, up 50% in a week

The number of monkeypox infections in the European Union rose by almost 50% in a week, exceeding 7,000, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides said. The EU’s Health Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) bought another 54,530 vaccine doses, bringing the total to 163,620.

Kyriakides stated she is concerned by the increasing number of monkeypox cases, adding that around 25,000 doses have been delivered to six member states so far. As of July 14, Spain had the most reported cases at 443, followed by Germany at 405 and France at 191.
