EU Parliament adopts law to regulate AI

European Parliament announced in an official statement on Wednesday that they adopted a new law to regulate artificial intelligence.

According to the statement, the “Artificial Intelligence Act ensures safety and compliance with fundamental rights, while boosting innovation.” The regulation was approved with 523 votes in favor, 46 against, and 49 abstentions. The document explained that the new rules “ban certain AI applications that threaten citizens’ rights,” as well as “AI that manipulates human behavior or exploits people’s vulnerabilities.”
