EU sends aid to Greece to fight wildfires

The European Union announced on Sunday that it will be sending aid to Greece and other countries in the region that have been affected by forest fires.

The EU labeled the fires as “unprecedented,” adding that it is in regular contact with national authorities to monitor the situation and properly facilitate the bloc’s assistance. Moreover, EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič stated that the ongoing operation is “one of Europe’s biggest ever common firefighting operations,” and that the EU stands in “solidarity” with the affected countries.
