Foreign Trade: Trade deficit of 15,716 million Tunisian dinars by the end of October 2024

According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the trade deficit has lowered, reaching a level of -15,716 million Tunisian dinars (MD), compared to -15,853.1 MD during the first ten months of 2023. The coverage rate improved by 0.6 points compared to the same period in 2023, attaining 76.7%.

Exports increased by 2.1%, compared to 6.9% during the same period in 2023. They amounted to 51,623.4 MD, compared to 50,550 MD during the first ten months of 2023.

As for imports, they saw a rise of 1.4%, compared to a decrease of 3.3% during the same period in 2023. In value, imports reached 67,339.4 MD, compared to 66,403.2 MD during the first ten months of 2023.

This deficit is mainly due to the imbalance with certain countries, such as China (-7,353.4 MD), Russia (-4,700.6 MD), Algeria (-3,534.5 MD), Turkey (-2,286.9 MD), India (-1,182.8 MD), and Ukraine (-1,157 MD).

In contrast, the trade balance registered a surplus with other countries, mainly France (4,335.6 MD), Italy (1,467.5 MD), Germany (1,932.5 MD), Libya (1,790.2 MD), and Morocco (176.3 MD).
