Former US Senator Joe Lieberman dies at 82

Joe Lieberman, former Democratic senator who represented the state of Connecticut and vice presidential nominee passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday, CNN reported, citing a statement from Lieberman’s family.

Lieberman’s death was caused by complications that ensued after he lost his balance and fell. He passed away surrounded by his family members in New York. The moderate Democrat served as Al Gore’s vice presidential running mate in 2000, thereby becoming the first Jewish person to be part of a major United States presidential ticket.
