Lieberman’s death was caused by complications that ensued after he lost his balance and fell. He passed away surrounded by his family members in New York. The moderate Democrat served as Al Gore’s vice presidential running mate in 2000, thereby becoming the first Jewish person to be part of a major United States presidential ticket.
