France president Emmanuel Macron calls Amazon rainforest fires an ‘international crisis’

Emmanuel Macron has named the amazon fires as an “international crisis”. Macron said that the topic should take priority in the upcoming
G7 summit in Biarritz. Macron tweeted “Our house is burning. Literally. The Amazon rain forest – the lungs of our planet which produces 20% of our oxygen – is on fire. It is an international crisis,”
Fires have been burning at a record pace in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest for weeks. The consequence of the smoke can be observed in São Paulo, even though it’s more than 1,700 miles away from the rainforest, CNN stated.

The Amazon, known as “the planet’s lungs,” provides 20 percent of Earth’s oxygen and is a fundamental determinant in battling climate change.
