France will elevate the nighttime curfew on June 20, the country’s Prime Minister Jean Castex confirmed on Wednesday.
Castex added, during a press conference, that wearing a facemask while outside will no longer be compulsory beginning June 17.
The prime minister revealed that the decision to scrap the eight-month-long curfew was made due to a faster-than-expected vaccine rollout, as well as a decline in the number of daily registered infections in the country.
