The foreign ministers of the G7 nations urged Russia to immediately stop its aggression against Ukraine, to enable unimpeded humanitarian aid to the struggling population and to especially cease any attacks in the vicinity of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants.
“Any armed attack on and threat against nuclear facilities devoted to peaceful purposes constitutes a violation of the principles of international law,” it was mentioned in the statement.
The statement furthermore emphasised that the reported indiscriminate attacks by Russia on civilians and civilian infrastructure are a clear breach of international law and that those responsible for any recorded war crimes will be held accountable.
