German police arrests 25 far-right terror suspects

German Office of the Federal Prosecutor announced on Wednesday that around 3,000 of the country’s police officers executed numerous raids in the early morning, targeting those involved in the so-called Reich Citizens movement, a far-right group, as they are believed to have been planning to overthrow the German government by “military means and violence,” including “homicides.”

According to the statement, “22 suspected members and three suspected supporters of a terrorist organization” were detained, out of 52 alleged suspects. Around 130 properties across the country have already been searched, while further investigation is pending. One of the accused allegedly attempted to contact “representatives of Russia.”

“The accused belong to a terrorist organization founded by the end of November 2021 at the latest, which has set itself the goal of overcoming the existing state order in Germany and replacing it with its own form of government,” the official body wrote.
