GNU PM Dabaiba and Government ministers commemorate 72nd anniversary of independence

GNU Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba saw, on Sunday evening, the celebration of the 72nd anniversary of Libya’s Independence Day, which coincided with the activities of the Tripoli Media Days, the PM Media reported.

The celebration took place in the attendance of several ministers of the National Unity Government, prominent Libyan, Arab and international figures, and descendants and families of the struggling fathers and founders of the Libyan state.

In his speech at the celebration, Dabaiba emphasized that the flag of independence is a symbol of jihad, union, and the heritage of the ancestors. He stressed the importance of keeping the flag high and dear, flying over the lands of the country. Al-Dabaiba stated that the nation is facing a test during this stage to strengthen independence and transition to a state of constitution and law.

Dabaiba underscored the right of the Libyan people to have their demands met and the essential services provided to them, as this is what the founding fathers sacrificed for, emphasising that the country requires a permanent constitution that sets a political process to hold fair and just elections and achieve the will of the Libyan people.

During the celebration, Dabaiba presented the State Appreciation Awards. The State Appreciation Award for Journalism was awarded to the writer and journalist “Mahmoud Al-Bousaifi,” the State Appreciation Award for the Arabic Language went to Professor Ammar Jahidar, and the Red Saraya Award for Peace Journalism was presented to Al-Jazeera Network correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh.

Dabaiba furthermore honoured Sheikh Rashid Al-Zubair Al-Senussi, representative of the children of the founding fathers, and the granddaughter of Mr. Emile Saint-Lo, the representative of Haiti in 1952 to the United Nations, Ambassador Deschanel Saint-Lo.
