Guterres: Fires in Middle East becoming an inferno

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Wednesday that the “raging fires in the Middle East are fast becoming an inferno.”

Speaking before the UN Security Council, Guterres stressed that the “deadly cycle of tit-for-tat violence must stop,” adding that it is absolutely necessary to avoid a full-scale war in Lebanon “which would have profound and devastating consequences.”
