Haiti earthquake death toll jumps to 1,297

The death toll from a powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on Saturday has climbed to 1,297, updated from a previous count of 724, the data provided by the nation’s office of civil protection revealed.

The number of injured now stands at 5,700, doubling from the previous figure of 2,800.
