The city of Hammamet has been confronting a phenomenon of coastal erosion for several years, announced Salem Sahli, president of the Association of Environmental Education in Hammamet told Tunisie Numérique.
Urban and tourist pressure has contributed to the degradation of the coastline, due to construction on the sand and the elimination of dunes, which has led to the advance of the sea and the erosion of beaches, according to him.
Our speaker believes that the best solution to deal with this phenomenon is to take preventive measures, in particular by avoiding construction near beaches and respecting the integrity of the sea.
