The United States House of Representatives passed a legislation Friday in an effort to ban assault-style weapons.
The bill was approved with a 217-213 margin, in an almost party-line vote. “Our nation has watched in unspeakable horror as assault weapons have been used in massacre after massacre in communities across the country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said about the passage.
The legislation is headed to the Senate floor next where it could face problems as a number of Republican policymakers have threatened to block the bill’s passage.
