Hurricane Helene death toll in US hits 200

The number of deaths caused by Hurricane Helene in the United States has now reached 200, as reported by CNN on Thursday. Georgia reported eight new fatalities, while another death was recorded in Florida.

The staggering death toll surpassed that of any hurricane to hit the mainland United States since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Earlier, United States President Joe Biden deployed 1,000 troops to help Western North Carolina after the region was devastated by the storm.
