In Sfax, pedestrians play leapfrog with urban barriers

In Sfax, the Bab Jebli crossing shifted into a test of urban agility! Where pedestrians were crowding, a chain now stood in the way. It appears that the municipality has forgotten to provide for the passage of trolleys and strollers, not to note access for individuals with reduced mobility.

A situation that makes you grin, or cringe, depending on which side of the chain you are on. Some see it as a new leapfrog exercise to be incorporated into the daily routine, while others, less amused, wonder if respecting pedestrian traffic rules has not become a competitive sport in Sfax.

As for people with disabilities, they seem to have been relegated to the forgotten bench in this urban update which appears to have been quicker to establish than a traffic light.

Universal accessibility? Maybe for the next update…
