The Australian Fatwa Council announced in a statement that the last day of Ramadan will be Sunday, the 30th of Ramadan, and the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be Monday, the 1st of Shawwal, based on the absence of moon sighting conditions in Australia.
The Australian Fatwa Council explained in the statement that “after investigation by local and global observatories, the crescent of Shawwal will be born in Sydney on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 9:57 PM Australian Eastern Daylight Time – after sunset on that night. In Perth, the crescent will be born on the same day at 6:57 PM Australian Western Standard Time, also after sunset. Since the crescent will be born after sunset in both cities, the following day cannot be the first of Shawwal.”
