Indonesia officially confirms Subianto as next president

The Indonesian General Election Commission on Wednesday confirmed that Prabowo Subianto won last month’s presidential elections, clinching the victory over former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

The 72-year-old politician, who held positions as the country’s defense minister and an army lieutenant general, secured 58.6% of the votes, while Baswedan obtained 24.9% of the votes. Ganjar Pranowo, the former governor of Central Java, garnered a backing of 16.5%.
