Interior Ministry clarification on death ofwanted individual in fire exchange with security units in Msaken

The Ministry of Interior disclosed today that as part of the continuation of the large-scale security operation targeting drug traffickers and dangerous criminal elements, security units from various bodies, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, carried out several searches in the Sousse and Monastir region.

“This led to the detention of 237 dangerous elements, as well as the seizure of various quantities of narcotic substances, sums of money and bladed weapons,” the Ministry of Interior added.

It added that during the operation, one of the dangerous elements wanted by the justice system resisted the security forces and engaged in an exchange of fire using a firearm (pistol) that he owned. This required his neutralization by a shot that hit one of the lower parts of his body, resulting in his death during his transport to the hospital.”
