Iran has promptly seized British oil tanker Stena Impero in the Strait of Hormuz. Carrying 25 crew, Iranian officials claimed the vessel had transgressed maritime regulations.
Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Jeremy Hunt threatened Iran it will face “serious consequences” if it does not release the British tanker.
This is not the first time Iran has seized a British tanker. Previously, Iranian vessels attempted to thwart British oil tanker “Grace 1″ in the Strait of Hormuz.
