Iran’s Raisi, Egypt’s Sisi hold talks on Saturday

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah El-Sisi held a phone call on Saturday, marking the first direct communication between the leaders, Raisi’s deputy chief of staff, Mohammad Jamshi, reported.

In the discussions, Raisi congratulated the Egyptian leader on his new term and stressed the importance of Islamic unity. The leaders examined recent developments in Gaza, with Raisi expressing Iran’s readiness to contribute resources to halt the conflict and provide aid to the Palestinians. Both presidents agreed to take concrete steps toward resolving longstanding issues between their nations.

The phone call comes after the leaders’ initial meeting in November on the sidelines of the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh.
