Iraq records first black fungus death

Iraq reported the first death from the black fungus disease in Dhi Qar Governorate, Southern Iraq.”
Iraqi medical sources said that one of the doctors discovered that the patient died as a result of infection with the black fungus after diagnosis was made for the cause of death, due to the appearance of fungi in the patient’s eye. This indicated that earlier cases of deaths similar to those fungi had been reported, but it was not diagnosed as black fungus disease, an online media reported.
