Iraq: Seizure of Over a Ton of ‘Captagon’ Coming from Syria via Turkey

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior reported on Sunday the seizure of more than a ton of Captagon pills smuggled from Syria through Turkey, following intelligence provided by Saudi Arabia’s drug enforcement agency.

Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, said that a joint operation involving the anti-narcotics directorates in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, led to the interception of a truck carrying 1,100 kg of Captagon pills.

A security official told AFP that the truck contained approximately seven million Captagon tablets.
