Israel to stop Spanish Consulate from serving Palestinians

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced on Friday that he would ban the Spanish Consulate in Jerusalem from serving West Bank Palestinians after Spain decided to recognize the Palestinian state.

Katz also pointed to a statement by Spain’s Labor and Economy Minister Yolanda Diaz, who said that “Palestine will be free from the river to the sea” in a video shared on social media. He called her an “ignorant, hate-filled individual” and said her remarks are part of the reason he decided to “sever the connection between Spain’s representation in Israel and the Palestinians.”
