Official Israeli media cited officials as stating that Israel did not take Hamas’ announcement of its acceptance of the truce proposal seriously, remarking that Hamas had agreed to a modified version of the proposal that Israel had not yet decided to.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted the source as saying: “This is a unilateral answer from Hamas to an Egyptian proposal, and when we receive it, we will review it and respond to it.”
Israeli Army Radio likewise said that the proposal approved by Hamas has not been approved by Israel yet.
Israeli Channel 12 quoted two Israeli officials as expressing: “We will study Hamas’ answer. The current proposal differs from the formula approved by Israel.”
The two officials added that this is a far-reaching proposal that is unacceptable to Israel.
Meanwhile, a government official believed that Hamas’ announcement of accepting the ceasefire proposal is a hoax aimed at portraying Israel as a “rebellious state.”
