The Italian government declared on Thursday that the state of emergency in place due to the coronavirus pandemic will be prolonged until the end of the year.
Apart from the extension, the government also unveiled its plans for the green pass or the so-call COVID-passports, which will become mandatory for all citizens above the age of 12 starting from August 6. The green pass will be needed for indoor dining and all other indoor activities, such as going to the cinema, theater, and gym, as well as any major events that are organized in the country. It will be valid for anyone with a negative test within 48 hours, who has recovered from coronavirus within six months or has had at least one coronavirus vaccine shot.
