Italy reports 195 new deaths,toll rises to 29,079

Italy on Monday listed 195 new deaths from coronavirus, taking the total to 29,079.

Data issued by Italy’s Civil Protection Department confirmed that the country has crossed the peak of the outbreak, as more than 4 million people went back to work after two months of stern lockdown.

The tally of new infections dropped 199, placing the tally at 99,980.

Meantime, recoveries continued to soar, surging to 82,879 as more patients left intensive care, reducing pressure on Italy’s struggling healthcare system.
