Italy’s daily COVID cases at new record of 98,030

The number of infections from COVID-19 registered daily in Italy reached a new all-time high on Wednesday, coming in at 98,030. The figure for cases recorded since the start of the pandemic in that country thus rose to 5,854,428.

Meanwhile, 148 people lost their lives to the consequences of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total count of deaths linked to the disease to 137,091.
