Japan withdraws another 1 million Moderna vaccines

The Japanese government has withdrawn an additional one million Moderna COVID-19 vaccines on Monday following two deaths that occurred after people received shots from the contaminated batches.

With the latest update, the number of Moderna vaccines that have been affected reached 2.6 million. Officials found black and pink substances in the vials, prompting immediate suspensions of the whole batches. However, the government noted that the measure was precautionary since no safety and efficacy issues were registered.
