Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi urged the international community on Tuesday to recognize the importance of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Middle East and back the agency’s crucial mission in alleviating the impact of the war on civilians in Gaza.
In a post on X, Safadi said the global leaders and institutions “must do the right thing too & support the agency’s vital role towards 2.3 [million] Gazans facing starvation. UNRWA is indispensable. It is saving innocent lives.” At the same time, he supported that the UN started an investigation on 12 of the 13,000 UNRWA staff in Gaza.
