During a meeting at the Carthage Palace with Sadok Mourali, the Minister of Youth and Sports, President Kaïs Saïed stressed the urgent need to reform Tunisia’s sports infrastructure and governance. He highlighted the crucial role of young people in driving the country’s cultural and sports development.
The president underscored the significance of enhancing and expanding youth centers across all regions of Tunisia. These centers, he argued, should transcend mere leisure spaces and become hubs for culture, innovation, and creativity.
“The Tunisian youth can excel in any field, provided the necessary conditions are met,” stated President Saïed.
Saïed lamented the decline of sports facilities, especially in urban neighbourhoods, which once produced memorable champions. He directed the Ministry of Youth and Sports to integrate urban planning with developing new, accessible sports spaces for all areas.
The president also criticized the hybrid system of amateurism and professionalism within sports management, calling out dubious practices such as provisional contracts and opaque commissions. Saïed demanded profound reforms to root out corruption and establish a robust foundation for Tunisian sports.
This meeting reflects Saïed’s vision to place youth and sports at the forefront of Tunisia’s progress. By promoting integrity, innovation, and inclusivity, he aims to rejuvenate these vital sectors and inspire a new wave of development.
