President of the Tunisian Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Carthage Palace Minister of the Interior Khaled Ennouri and the Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior in charge of National Security, Sofiene Bessadok.
During this meeting, President Saied emphasised the significance of redoubled efforts to enforce the law, especially in this period marked by obvious attempts to disrupt the social situation in various ways.
During this meeting, President Saied insisted on the necessity to strengthen security, especially in Jebniana and Al Amara. He declared Tunisia takes a humanitarian approach in dealing with irregular migrants, but it is unacceptable to allow anyone to terrorize citizens under any pretext.
The President likewise addressed the issue of interference in the electoral process. He condemned the actions of lobbies who, behind the scenes, are trying to influence the elections in these last days of the campaign. He called for increased vigilance to guarantee that the electoral process takes place under democratic rules and without interference.
Kais Saied recalled the importance of preserving public order and protecting citizens against any form of disturbance. He underlined that respect for the law is crucial to preserving the stability and security of the country. He urged the security forces to be firm and vigilant against any attempt at destabilization.
Therefore, President Saied’s meeting with senior Tunisian security officials underlines Tunisia’s commitment to maintaining order and security in a sensitive electoral period.
