Economic expert and President of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM) Kamel Ghribi expressed deep concern over the latest developments in the world, particularly the mounting crisis of irregular migration.
Ghribi said that “I am closely following what is taking place in the Mediterranean area, particularly the crisis of irregular migration which has turned the sea into a graveyard for migrants. They sacrifice their lives by getting on small boats to achieve their dream of living and working in Europe.”
The ECAM President warned against “wars waging across Africa, the recent tragedy striking Sudan, the instability and chaos prevailing in Libya as well as Europe’s inability to help neighboring Tunisia.”
“Is it too difficult to overcome these ongoing crises? Is there a lack of leadership to make the necessary change we aspire to see in our today’s world?” he wondered, stressing the need “to stay hopeful no matter what happens.”
“We must always do our best to overcome crises, find solutions to the problems we face and make bold decisions,” Ghribi added.
The ECAM President urged “the whole world to denounce hatred and conflicts and promote peaceful coexistence.”
