Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov described on Thursday Russia’s decision to expel a number of the United States diplomats from its territory as a “forced measure.”
Peskov stressed Moscow will stop expelling US diplomats once Washington halts doing the same to Russia’s envoys. “Our actions are not the root cause of this crisis; they are forced and retaliatory,” he told reporters at a press conference.
Russia expelled certain US diplomats over what was described as an abuse of residence privileges in December and again in March.
