Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that the relations between Russia and the United States are “at their historical lowest point” and that their development will depend on the next US administration. “We are carefully analyzing everything, monitoring everything, and will draw conclusions based on specific words and specific steps,” he said.
Peskov noted the US is “capable of helping” to end the war in Ukraine but cautioned that this “cannot be done overnight.” He also rejected allegations of Russia’s meddling in the US presidential election, reiterating that Moscow does not interfere with other countries’ internal affairs. He added that he is not aware of President Vladimir Putin’s plans to congratulate the presumed US President-elect Donald Trump.
