Kuwait’s ruler hospitalised, crown prince steps in

Kuwait’s crown prince stepped in as partial ruler on Saturday after the hospitalisation of the 91-year-old emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, state news agency KUNA announced.

Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Sabah, “to take over some constitutional jurisdictions of His Highness the Emir temporarily”, KUNA said in a separate statement.

Kuwait’s ruler was admitted to hospital on Saturday for medical checks.
