Lebanon’s Electricity Company reported today, Saturday, that the last remaining production unit on the national grid has been fully shut down, resulting in a total power outage across all Lebanese territories.
In a press release, the company noted, “Due to the ongoing circumstances, Lebanon’s Electricity Company reports that this afternoon, the last operational unit at the Zahrani plant was taken offline.”
The statement added that the decision was made “following the complete depletion of the plant’s diesel reserves, leading to a total shutdown of electricity supply across all Lebanese territories, including critical infrastructure such as the airport, port, water pumps, sewers, and prisons.”
