Lebanese news reporter breaks in tears as fires spread

Reporter for Lebanese TV station Al-Jadeed Halima Tabiaa was broadcasting live from Damour, south of Beirut, as fires could be seen shredding through villages on Tuesday.

Live TV footage shows Tabiaa distressing moments she broke down in tears as she recounted hearing screams from burning homes engulfed by Lebanon’s wildfires.

Trying frantically to hold back tears, Tabiaa tells how she can hear people crying for help inside their homes but no one could reach them.

Lebanon and Syria have been fighting raging fires that damaged thousands of hectares and trapped people inside their homes, leaving them incapable of escaping.
