Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Tuesday, after Israel attacked the Dahyeh district in southern Beirut killing a Hamas senior official, that Israel intends to “draw Lebanon into a new phase of confrontations in light of the ongoing daily attacks on the south of the country.”
In a statement issued by the prime minister’s office, Mikati stressed that Israeli authorities want to export the country’s “failures in Gaza to the southern border to impose new facts on the ground and change the rules” of confrontation.
