The head of the Libyan government Abdelhamid Dbaiba has declined the withdrawal of confidence from his administration by the Parliament, declaring that he will continue in office until tillthe organization of snap elections and the unification of the country. He requested Libyans to demonstrate next Friday in place of the martyrs in the capital Tripoli to oppose the decision of Parliament and express their support for the government.
Dbaiba additionally said he was astonished at the timing of this decision, which comes the day after a meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament and Marshal Khalifa Haftar, hinting that Egypt could be at the origin of this “withdrawal of confidence”.
