Libya: Evacuation of an amusement park in Tripoli following armed clashes

The “Libya News” news site reported that clashes took place this Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the evening, and that heavy gunfire was heard in the centre of the capital, Tripoli, on the road to the airport.

According to witnesses, the amusement park on Omar Mokhtar Street was evacuated, even though it was extremely busy on this second day of Eid al-Fitr.

A source from the Tripoli Security Directorate confirmed that residents were called upon to avoid places of tension and only go out if necessary to maintain their security until the situation calms down.

Videos spread on social media recording the panic and screams of citizens in the amusement park on Omar Al-Mokhtar Street in central Tripoli after clashes broke out before its evacuation.
