Libyan Authorities charge 16 over Derna Dam collapse

The Public Prosecution has charged 16 people, including the head of the Derna Reconstruction Fund, with mismanagement of assigned work, following the collapse of the Derna dams.

Especially, the Head of the Derna Reconstruction Fund and a Committee Member are confronting charges of mismanagement, as confirmed by the Attorney General’s office.

Fourteen of the accused are set to appear in court in Derna, while two defendants will be tried in absentia as they are currently abroad. The legal proceedings aim to address accountability and responsibility related to the collapse of the Derna dams.
