Symptoms of the so-called long COVID could decrease after vaccination, according to a preliminary study published by the British Office for National Statistics on Monday. The study examined people aged 18 to 69 who developed long COVID symptoms before being inoculated, defined as symptoms lasting for at least 12 weeks after first having COVID-19 that were not explained by something else.
The analysis showed a 13% decrease in the likelihood of self-reported long COVID after the first dose of a coronavirus shot, and a 9% decrease after the second shot. The data demonstrated no difference between participants who received different vaccines. However, the study warned that the long-term effects of vaccines on long COVID remain unknown as data is currently limited.
