Maher Gharibi: About 20 million subsidized notebooks of various types have been allocated, no increase in prices [Video]

Speaking with Tunisie Numérique,Regional Director of Trade in Tunis,Maher Gharibi confirmed that during the current school year 2024-2025, approximately 20 million subsidized notebooks of diverse types, No. 24, 48 and 72, have been allocated. So far more than 11 million notebooks have been distributed, waiting to reach 16 million with the return to school.

He pointed out that in the coming periods, the remaining quantities will be printed and distributed in the market, bringing the total to about 20 million notebooks.

Concerning the state of Tunis, our source noted that between July 5 and August 30, approximately 450,580 subsidized notebooks were distributed. This includes 127,080 No. 24, 187,240 No. 48, and 136,260 No. 72.

As for the control services, they have been monitoring the distribution process and guaranteeing the transparency and integrity of commercial transactions in the school supplies sector at both wholesale and retail levels since the start of July.

These control operations have resulted in the identification of 27 economic offences. These include 13 violations linked to refusal to sell, 2 violations of conditional selling, 7 violations for price increases and failure to provide invoices, 4 infractions for failure to display prices, and 1 violation for not retaining purchase invoices.

Concerning the supply situation, our source confirmed that this school year is especially better compared to previous years, as the distribution of subsidized notebooks started early, approximately two and a half months before the school year started.

Gharibi also noted that there has been no increase in the prices of subsidized notebooks or school books, with no changes or price hikes impacting any of these items.
