Pro-European challenger Maia Sandu has succeeded the second round of Moldova’s presidential election, according to the central election commission.
The former prime minister was leading Sunday night (15 November) with 57% of the votes over Igor Dodon’s 44%, with the full results expected Monday.
Sandu, who leads the Party of Action and Solidarity, has vowed to lead a battle against endemic corruption in the country, which is wedged between Ukraine and EU member Romania.
