Mar Galcerán makes history as Spain’s first MP with Down’s syndrome

Mar Galcerán, a member of the People’s Party (PP) in Spain, has made history by becoming the country’s first parliamentarian with Down syndrome.

After joining the PP at the age of 18, drawn to its tradition-friendly ethos, Galcerán devoted years to civil service. Her impactful roles included serving with the President of the Generalitat Valenciana and contributing to Asindown, a Valencian organisation supporting families with Down syndrome.
