Ministry of Commerce: Market supply is improving

On Friday, November 22, 2024, the Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, oversaw the 38th session of the National Trade Council, held at the headquarters of the Export Promotion Center (Cepex).

According to a statement from the Ministry of Trade, the council’s talks focused on the ministry’s preparations to ensure a steady supply of essential consumer goods in the coming periods.

“The indicators show signs of improvement in market supply, with close monitoring of prices to protect citizens’ purchasing power,” the statement added.

The session furthermore addressed the following strategic priorities:

  • Organizing distribution channels and upgrading agricultural and fisheries products.
  • Monitoring the progress of commercial infrastructure projects in the governorates of Béja, Sidi Bouzid, and Médenine (Ben Guerdane).
  • Implementing a digitalization program for wholesale markets and establishing a pilot system for production sites.
  • Enhancing the role of the Competition Council in market regulation.
  • Planning upcoming trade programs and events.
