The Ministry of Transport announced the implementation of a project to regulate the usage and management of electronic systems and platforms for non-scheduled public transport services (individual taxis). On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the ministry started updating the regulatory framework for this purpose.
This initiative seeks to better organize and modernize the field of non-scheduled public transport while ensuring compliance with competition and transparency standards. It also reflects the ministry’s commitment to the social role of the transport sector, especially in maintaining citizens’ purchasing power.
In this context, the ministry noted that field monitoring campaigns would be intensified to address violations in non-scheduled public transport operations, such as refusing to serve passengers, failure to display identifying marks, and non-compliance with tariffs.
The ministry also revealed plans to develop a Tunisian digital application, which will be hosted in Tunisia and is expected to become operational by mid-2025. This app will adhere to cybersecurity standards and guarantee the protection of personal data.
Through this initiative, the ministry aims to enhance and streamline services in alignment with Tunisia’s digital transformation goals. Further, it aims to foster private sector involvement and create new investment opportunities in the transport sector.
